Where we lack local parks to visit we have local shrines nearby which are full of interesting joinery and knotwork. This bell can be struck by visitors paying tributes to the spirits. The combination of materials, the wood striking on bronze makes a pleasing sound.
During lockdown we have been exploring the city walking around Tokyo and enjoying the materiality of a place. We really like when materials age and reveal their nature and the passing of time. We have been collecting an archive of Japanese rust.
